First, careful with the language there, bud. Second, you can go any number of routes - it's recommended to run the lines along the same path to avoid interference/line rubbing issues which could eventually wear through and produce another leak, though its not absolutely necessary (I didn't). As for materials, you can go with steel line. Many recommend
Poly-Armour brake line, which is steel coated with plastic to ward off rust. Another option is
NiCopp brake like, which is supposed to not rust at all, and is much easier to bend/flare. Both are more expensive than steel line.
I opted to have a shop do it. I supplied materials, four hours labor.
Our lines are double flare, 3/16" to the front, 1/4" to the rear.
