FWIW- Our Mark VIIs are speed density controlled so there are limits to what can be done without converting to mass air control which has a lot of flexibility. Rest assured, there have been all kinds of swaps for this 5.0 most of which originated from Mustangs. Depends on what you want to put into it and what you want to end up with, always keeping in mind the weight difference. Mk7 weighs about 37-3800lbs so IMHO if gas mileage is not a prime consideration, changing rear end gears from the 3.27 to 3.73 or 4.10 may be a start. There are many different opinions on the top end options available. Most all have been done. Do a search for desired modifications. Good luck.
For parts, most anything engine and drive train specific can be obtained from a Ford source. Anything Mark VII specific will be a catch as catch can, mostly used.
