car won,t go faster than 4omph,

Postby delman40 » Mon Nov 07, 2016 12:06 pm

Hi everybody good to be back,
I just gave my 1990 lsc to my son and decieded to change out the fuel injectors {father son project} everything went well with the bosch 4 outlet swap. the problem we are having is that although the car is more responsive it now won't go faster than 40 mph. It goes up to 40 with no problem than it stays there and the tach shows the engine revving higher but no more power to the drive wheels. Did we forget to or cross the lines in the back of the intake manifold.....stumped. any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks Jr

Sounds like the transmission is slipping in overdrive. Hopefully you did not forget to reconnect the transmission throttle cable to the throttle valve during reassembly. Failure to reconnect this cable will cause the overdrive band to burn up in under 100 miles of driving if driven in OD. Check the cable connection. Also try driving the car in D to see if it will go faster than 40 mph. Good luck and let us know what you find.

Kmaniac thanks for your reply.....you were right the throttle cable slipped out of the bushing. Bought the brass bushing replacement the the late great art bailey suggested. Thanks again for your assistance

Delman,
Please tell us that you caught the disconnected cable before there was damage to the transmission.
