I about hit the floor when he brought them out! I think my hands were shaking when he handed them to me, lol.
I thought maybe I would get lucky and they might have one or two dusty emblems sitting on an old shelf somewhere buried in the shop. Didn't expect that at all.

I am REALLY happy for you Julian.

You couldn't have bought them in that condition with a thousand dollars.

Thoughts on the location for the third emblem? I assume it belongs on the trunk lid. Anyone have a picture?

All that I have is the two page flyer. The only place that I can guess would be the decklid.

Will those three emblems fit on one side of the deck lid, say the right side? I would place the "Lincoln" and "Mark VII" emblem together on the left side, and the others on the right side. I see that the LSC emblems go on the fenders, that looks good. There are not many good places to place anything that large(long), besides the back end.

In the flyer photos, the one with a view from the back and the top down, it appears to have only one, fairly long emblem on the right side. Hmm...

Owner preference, hmm. I will get a hold of DTC and ask Larry where it goes. I wonder if maybe I was given three by mistake? Maybe only two are really needed, one for each side by the ~Electric operated~ quarter window. 8-)

Finally pulled this old thing out to run it for a little bit. Wouldn't start because the fuel pump had seized. Upon further inspection the tank was pretty rusty inside. Fortunately I saved the whole tank out of the 87LSC parts car I picked up in Cocoa FL a few weeks ago. Popped in the replacement tank (after swapping the fuel gauge sender) and with a few cycles of the key she fired right up. In the next few weeks I plan to put on the replacement fenders and other front end parts to start straightening out the body.

(At this point its more about getting the used/good fenders off the floor and on the car so as to make more room in the shop.)

Too cool.

I like the examples that 2ManyMarks posted. I've seen the first two badges there more than once.

I think that decklid, driver's side, would be the best place for the third badge but the OWNER'S CHOICE theory sorta comes into play too. Maybe somewhere INSIDE the vehicle like in place of the LSC/BB badge? I think that would be cool.

Thanks for the update!

Parts for the convertible!!!

Started deconstructing a parts car today. Floors, doors, trunk lid and other miscellaneous items are being pulled from this '89 LSC donor that will one day be used to repair the body of convertible.

Isn't that the '87 parts car? Those wheels are the 15 inch that were on pre '88. :?

Awesome on two counts:
Saving valuable parts from the shredder.
Working towards putting the vert back on the road.

Congratulations!

The original "turbine" wheels were traded to someone else (such luck) prior to this car coming to me as they had almost new tires on them. The '87 parts car was the charcoal/silver beast that left a couple months ago. These wheels may get re-purposed again for use on my car trailer (even though I am not very fond of them but at least they have a Lincoln emblem.)

It will be a long road to completion for the convertible but I am still really looking forward to it.

Great work Julian, those are fine parts to fix the convertible with.

Save the back glass too if you can, those are tough to get.

I would have saved the rear glass (and still could I guess) if the defroster was in good shape but I can see it is torn in a number of spots. Probably due to tint removal somewhere in the cars past.

Today I finished cutting off the remaining sheet metal I wanted.

Hey, Julian...

Are you by any chance doing anything with the rest of the rear 1/4 panels on that red donor car? I need the sections behind the rear wheels below the belt mouldings to fix the rust on my 1990 Bill Blass. You can literally see and touch the spare tire from out side of my car.

I enjoy using a sawzall, and the cutting torch was a little fun but not as much. I cut the whole front clip from my 93 and 99 Explorer to build one, we used two long blades for that.

The Plasma Arc is on loan from a good friend of mine and it has been stored in my shop for a couple months now. YES indeed I am having lots of fun with it. I may have to tell him he needs to upgrade so I can buy this one from him. Either way I will end up with one like this in the future. Whether or not I will use it enough to warrant the cost is another story.

On another note I am having Carpal Tunnel surgery on my left hand in the morning so this fun will come to a screeching halt for the next few weeks. If all goes well I will likely have my right hand repaired a few months down the road.

Doug, PM sent regarding your quarter patch panels.
