Nice car John. I'll let you know how it is in person after Sunday. I'm pondering taking a floor jack and a fuel filter, I worry more about bad gas than most other things.

Don,
It's my experience that if the vehicle will run with old fuel, then run it with the old fuel until it's exhausted. I've seen where me and a few others have tried Dry Gas and a few other products to no avail. Until the old gas is removed, we've had a crappy running car.

Is it possible to have a 5 gallon can with known good gas in the vehicle as it's being driven with the old gas? I've successfully done this.

The seller told me today that he has topped off the gas a number of times recently, so I'll have to drive it a bit before I can add much new gas. I have a fuel additive that is good for "neutralizing bad gas", I will add that first.

Thanks. I hope it's a great keeper with no corrosion underneath, and gets me home tomorrow. It's 378 miles from my friend's house, and we leave at 7AM. I just spoke with my friend, and it reminded me I need to try to get the TV cable grommet from my SE here. It's brass, and I don't recall if I bought another one, so I'll try to get this one off. I'm going to buy some distilled water now to mix some coolant, my Explorer needs some now also.

Wow.
All the right moves!
I mix 60/40, Ethylene glycol with distilled water. Do you use 50/50 down there?

We don't need as much anti-freeze here, the lows get close to zero every year, but nut much lower. So I use about 1/3 anti-freeze, plus an additive like Water Weter, which improves heat transfer, and lubricates the WP. I'm trying the Amsoil additive now since discovering it's a similar $9 or so.

I bought two gallons of distilled H2O, I'll top off my Explorer, and put the rest in a 3/4 gallon thick plastic jug I prefer(an old apple juice container with a nice big handle).

Good luck to you Don. I hope it all goes well and that it is everything, if not better, than you expect it to be. :)

I am whooped. I just got home from work. Yesterday was long, left at 7:34AM, got there just before 2PM, left around 4PM, and got home a little after 11PM. The car looks great, the paint is nice with minimal clear blemishes. It does need some work, my old SE is far better mechanically besides mileage. This one needs plug wires, plugs, lock actuators, window felts, tires, front suspension work(shimmied all the way home), all fluids and filters, and a radiator(plus hoses, pulleys, belt). It needed coolant when we got it, about 1.5 gallons. I topped it off when we stopped soon for gas. Then today I check it and it's about as low as before. There's leaking evidence along both side edges visible.

So it's a nice low mileage 92 that needs some TLC, and driving. I'll mix parts between my two, and keep this one with all the good stuff(GTC kit, 347 and 4R70W, memory seat/mirrors, DVD player and back up camera, JVC speakers etc).

So. All of the normal suspects :) :) :)

Thanks Brad, I have begun another cart list on Rock Auto, for the basics. I'll slowly get it driveable and reliable to get through Winter, and then work towards selling the 91. I'll have to swap or rebuild the AOD for that, and swap the interiors, and likely do something about the paint.

Been meaning to say congrats on your new ride Don! Sure looks good in the photos. There is a Red SE with black interior down here on CL over on the east side of Florida that looks to be super clean but his firm price at $8995 is a little steep.

Thanks, the price was right and I hadn't looked hard for about ten years. The condition of the body and chassis was my need, I'll swap the interior with my 91 to keep my preferred colors.
