Hi

Oh no! That is very sad news indeed.

Jane and myself had the pleasure of meeting Art at a Lincoln Mark vii cruise and can say he was one of the nicest guys we've ever had the priviledge of knowing our hearts go out to Kathy in this time of sorrow, Art will be remembered with great fondness.

I have been a club member since 2008 and although I do not post often, I read, twice per day. My favorite posts were always from Art. Although I never met him personally I always felt like he was an old friend. I truly will miss him, his wit and knowledge.
My sincere condolences to Kat and the rest of Art's family.

I don't even know what to say. I never had the honor of meeting Art but felt as though I knew him personally through reading his posts. He had the answers to questions I have never even had to ask. Without being present he walked me through repairs and made them so much simpler. The Mark vii family has suffered a tragic loss. Mine and my families condolences go out to Kat and family. Our prayers are with you in this sad time.

Art Bailey...... What can I say. We started the SoCal chapter together, we went places together, laughed, worked on Marks, my son's race car and just hung out. Kat and Chris were also close, and shared our adventures. But the sadness of his passing will always be overshadowed by his spirit of life. He always was quick to make you laugh, and quick to play a joke. We were close and I will miss him, but I think he'd want us to remember the fun we shared, and not the sorrow of his loss. I called him "Professor" because if you had a problem with your Mark and he didn't have the answer he'd go looking for it. We talked of many things Art and I, he was like a brother to me. I will miss him, but the thought of his friendship makes me smile.

I'm amazed at how hard the news hit me, never having met Art or even talked to him on the phone.

God bless Kat and the rest of the family.

Now I'm going to read the "And so it begins... and continues" thread from start to finish.

Oh Kenny,
I have to comment on what you said about Art's sense of humor. Believe it or not, that wasn't his sense of humor but just "The World According To Art"

The really cool thing is that he could be HILARIOUS and not see it as hilarious but just 'the way it is'.

Sincere humor is the only way that I can describe it.

Yes, Art was a treasure. I have a coworker with an instant wit humor similar to that, he says things all day long which seem like a writer brain stormed for a long time to make up. It's just a pleasure to be around wonderful people like that.

My feelings echo many of the same thoughts posted by other members. I too never met him personally but through his posts and a few personal contacts grew to admire and respect him as friend and a mentor. I know that his family will dearly miss him and my thoughts and prayers go out to them during this trying time, Bob.

My condolences to Kat and family.
Kathy, I'm so sorry

It is very hard and difficult undertanding, that some important person has passed away. It takes a time... how long... who knows. I loose my father little bit one month ago and I don't understand it very well yet.

I met Art on the forum back in 2006, about a month before I bought DD. With his patient help to the new guy, I at least had some idea of what I bought. He was my mentor on all things Mark VII. Without his help I would have been lost. My greatest sorrow now is that I never had the chance to meet him and Kat in person. I talked to him on the phone, e-mails and here on the forum.
Art was a one of a kind. There will never be another like him.
I remember his first heart attack and the harassment we gave him over that with Kat's help. Who would have guessed that We would loose him so young. Kat and he were joined at the hip. They were the perfect couple too. I can only guess on how Kat feels lost now. I go through the forum now, and it hurts to not see Art helping some other new owners with their problems. He will be sorely missed by all of us.
Kat, Both Chris and I share your loss. No where near what you must be feeling now. We send your our love too.
As long as I am alive, I will still miss him. Someday in the future I will finally get to meet him up above. I just hope they have Marks up there so we can play cars.

Not sure what to say other than I can't believe he is gone... When I checked my email earlier and first saw the message about Art, it took a good while for me to realize what the email was about. At first glance I thought it was about a car cruise or something and then of course the sadness of what it said sank in.
Yikes. That is way to young to go. I too wish I could have met him in person but that'll have to wait. I think it will take all of us helping out the newcomers to this forum to even try make up for the great help he gave to new members. My prayers go out to Kat and their family in this unimaginably difficult time.

I was one of the fortunate ones to actually meet Art and Kat is Southern California. He was a wonderful and generous man, filled with "tons" of knowledge about everything. I broke bread with him and Kat several times, spent several evenings chatting with them in their living room in Winetka, and they even opened their home to me for a weekend of junkyarding, car races, and a Mark VII gathering. His sudden passing has left me in shock and he will be deeply missed.
