20140104 Primos, Pennsylvania Weather

Postby oldschool1 » Sat Jan 04, 2014 3:50 am

Holy $41T!

It is currently 4 degrees here on the Right Coast, Primos, Pennsylvania, US.

It the words of the late and great George Carlin,
"it could go up 20 degrees and it would still be F!@#$%^ freezing!"

Yes that is a tad on the brisk side. Here on the left coast,(central Cali) it has been below freezing (some teens) in the mornings for a few weeks now. We are desperately needing rain...rain dance anyone. :?

It's so cold that the engine has a hard time making enough heat to bring the radiator up to temp. I've had 14 and 11 degrees the last two mornings. Tonight will be warmer, maybe 30 they say... and then the next mornings two should be around 16 and 4, snowing a day later.

Do like our diesel brethren; partially cover the grill with vinyl or (gasp) cardboard.

As for rain, it all landed here in Primos 24 hours after it was in th single digits. Would you believe that it's now 50 degrees? If you go to Weather.com and input 19018 (Alden, Clifton Heights, Springfield, we're all the same county) right now, you'd see this,

A high of 51 and a low of 6.

I wasn't going to have an adult beverage before bed but now I think I will.

It's the same storm front from here. We were at 56 or so late last night, and then it dropped to the teens by morning. We've been moving from 11* at 2PM, down until sometime tonight around zero. I know that is nothing compared to the other north areas who are in the 10-20 below range, but it's still nasty cold.

Nasty is a good description of temperatures below freezing or (gasp) below zero.

Man oh Man oh Man. NH and MA must be getting hit hard.

We hit minus 2 this morning as I saw it the whole way to work 21 miles. It's a warming 10 degrees now at 1PM, warm compared to yesterday when it was falling all day. We might see freezing tomorrow, and sun shine. My fingers are still a bit sore, and I wore two pairs of gloves.

Didn't want to start a new thread on the "left coast" weather. This seems like a good "weather" thread  Anyway, we actually got some RAIN here in northern California. We haven't had it in so long I forgot what it looks like....... Our Harbor Freight garden gnomes and one of our pink flamingos are finally getting a bath

Image

We a little over and inch....... That may not seem like much, but we will take anything we can get... 8-)

Cheers

Brrrrr Kitty
As much as I don't like that white stuff, I would gladly take four inches of it, we need any kind of moisture. Of course it would be a disaster as no one here would know how to drive in it.....hell, most of them don't even know how to drive in rain let alone snow! :o

We had a tabby cat a long time ago. He could care less if you sprayed him with water. He really liked it on hot days, yep, not your typical kitty

Update on the sunny California weather. It's been raining for four days now and the field across the street shows it. They are saying that all this rain won't help the drought, I say it can't hurt ;)

Well after several days of rain and almost 16 inches of the wet stuff, today the sun came out and since the fountain in our front yard was filled with rain water, I figured I would turn it on and see if it was stlll working

Image

Yep still working.....
